Based in the UK? Please ask your MP to sign this Early Day Motion for Gilad Shalit:
That this House notes that 25 June 2009 was the third anniversary of the kidnap of Israeli serviceman Gilad Shalit; is concerned that he is being held a hostage, incommunicado, and is neither permitted to send or receive messages from his family, nor receive visits from the Red Cross or similar organisations; and calls on the Government to redouble its efforts to secure the release from captivity of Gilad Shalit and of other Israeli service personnel who are being held as hostages.
You can find the Early Day Motion here and it could hardly be easier to contact your MP.
As ever, thoughts and prayers are with Gilad and his family.
I hope my Jewish readers have a peaceful Shabbat.

Why all this fuss about one stormtrooper??? Next time you see Burchill ask the narcissistic bitch if she thinks the relative physical attractiveness of Serbs,Croats and Bosnians is a helpful guide to understanding the conflict in the former Yugoslavia.Apparently Serbian men are tall, dark and handsome. Was she joking? What’s it like being a groupie?
Nothing like a good vent.
Yawn @ ‘outrage athletics’
Lol @ Chaz
As ever, my thought and prayers are with Gilad. I have written to Sarah Teather, my MP. I hope she signs. And I hope it helps make the British government put extra pressure on those it can influence who might release him. And I hope he is released soon, and well.
Not sure why but I feel optimistic for Gilad.
Respect and gratitude to the brave men and women of the UK forces for their exertions over the past six years. They stand head and shoulders above the miserable creatures who are their critics. So sez Chas.
By Monday night, father-of-two Mr Mousa was dead. A post-mortem examination found he had suffered extensive injuries “consistent with a systematic beating”.
In his opening statement to Sir William Gage’s public inquiry into the death, requested by former Defence Secretary Des Browne in July 2008, Mr Elias said new evidence has emerged that Mr Mousa’s catastrophic injuries were deliberately inflicted.
“Statements to this inquiry now suggest perhaps a greater degree of deliberation than has hitherto been described,” he said.
He also said that Sir William’s investigation would look at the “scandalous” allegations that soldiers tried to manipulate the detainees’ moans into an “orchestrated choir”.
Mr Elias said the abuses, and the way in which Mr Mousa died, raised “serious questions” about troop behaviour in Iraq that it was vital to examine in detail.
I suppose you think the family of this man are “miserable creatures”.Chas.Certainly they have reason to be unhappy at the way he was murdered.Or do you think otherwise?
They have every reason to be unhappy, I agree.
The post to which you are responding (ie not this one) was about the Western anti-war movement and its widespread hypocrisies.
Please retract your description of Gilad Shalit as a “stormtrooper” if you want to comment further on this or any other post here.
Thanks.
Oh and for the record my MP is Adam Afriyie http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/adam_afriyie/windsor
I’ll let you know of any response from him.
Welp, I emailed my local guy (Keith Hill – Streatham).
He wrote this:

…so we’ll see what happens.
I wrote to my MP, , and it seems that she has signed, which is good.
[...] UK members and other UK readers of this post should also write to their MP highlighting the case and asking them to sign the following Early Day Motion (Hat Tip: Oy Va Goy!) [...]
