From what I'd heard about the man in passing, I'd come to the lazy assumption that he was a partizan hack, an apologist for torture, a right wing wingut, etc. When I finally listened to some recordings of his lectures it was stunning to see how wrong I was. Who was this guy with his clear sighted views, impeccable moral clarity, humour and devastating ability to pierce hypocracy with a few choice words? Without gushing (too) much, he is a brilliant man.
