Why are socalled “intelligent” people unable to solve a conflict that presupposes concessions for both parties? Sheer force exerted against your opponent only provokes his resistance by no matter what means. Rabin tried to solve the problem and was shot. Sharon at least left Gaza, but it didn’t solve anything. If you are dealing with people who train children to blow themselves up in order to leave this what they feel miserable world and believe that “72 virgins” are waiting for them there, you really have a problem, because these kids never thought where of these “virgings” are coming from and whether they are eager to “welcome” them….

What about the 11, 000 plus Palestinians currently imprisoned by Israel? Nameless, faceless Palestinians. Men, women and children. Robbed of a life and have nothing to celebrate. Viva Falastin.

Thank you. I agree: for the family, it is important. Extremely. And here in London where the ‘risk’ of our actions to keep it in people’s minds is less great than it may be in Israel (that is, risking making the demands of his evil captors even higher in response to public upset at his imprisonment), it is an essential thing for us to do, I think.

Well done Jonathan – great article about a great initiative. Even if we can’t really do much to help Gilad, I believe that it is tremendously important for his family to see that they are not alone: I’m sure it helps give them a little strength.
