He’s at it again. What a year Ken Loach is having. He has regularly lied about Israel’s actions, he’s bullied a young Israeli filmmaker, hypocritically campaigned for censorship of Israeli films and said that antisemitism is “understandable”.

The web is awash with examples of his fury against Israel, but aside from lending his name to a letter about Chechnya in February, I can’t find any trace of him speaking out against another nation or on any other international issue in recent times. It’s as if the rest of the world is some fluffy idyll, with everyone cycling up and down country lanes, waving at each other and petting small cuddly animals.

Why does he only focus on Israel? And why does he think antisemitism is “understandable”?

Ken Loach is 73.

NB: There is no record of Mr Loach being homophobic. But the rest of the song – particularly the chorus – applies fairly neatly.

    well said.

He’s an oldfashioned Jew-hater – with emphasis on the ‘old’! Lol

  3. Sally G says:

Has Ken Loach called for a boycott of British films because of the UK’s role in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Oh no, he wouldn’t would he?

Pay close attention to the last half-paragraph, Chas….A responsible writer does not willingly disseminate the vileness of others–even when they agree with them!

And kudos on the Book Blitz! Sextuplets all in one go, eh? Now that’s fruitful!

“David A. Harris, President of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

NJDC condemns MSNBC conservative commentator and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s recent column, “Did Hitler Want War,” in defense of Adolf Hilter’s actions in World War II. It is particularly disturbing that MSNBC is promoting this column on MSNBC.com.

Buchanan has a long history of insensitivity when it comes to issues surrounding the Holocaust, and he has taken the 70th anniversary of the start of World War II as an opportunity to voice these opinions once again.

This sort of historical revisionism is deplorable. Buchanan’s latest column should be removed immediately from MSNBC.com, and no worthy news organization should employ a commentator who engages in such vile fiction. The Constitution protects Buchanan’s right to say whatever he wants, but it does not require MSNBC or any other network to provide a prominent platform for such drivel.

Note the bit about Tel Aviv (the former sand dune) being ‘contested ground’. Contested by whom, exactly? Only by those who wish to see Israel obliterated.
Loach has become as tediously predictable in his politics as in his films.

there`s no way that antisemitism is “understandable”. ken loach is antisemitic-scum.

  7. Dave from Cheshire says:

Ignore him. He’s irrelevant and past-it. The only way anyone pays him any attention is when he slags Israel.

  8. Neil says:

Annoying Ken Loach, Jane Fonda and Naomi Klein should be something to be proud of.

  9. Sam Proctor says:

Loach’s words are symptomatic of the malaise that has overtaken the left and why I can no longer align myself with large parts of it. Sad, truly sad that he should have made those disgusting comments about anti-semitism being “understandable”, especially in view of the quality of some of his earlier films and tv work.
