I love Suzanne Moore, but my jaw dropped at this in today’s Mail On Sunday:

“Watching the footage of September 11 this week has been humbling and harrowing. Watching Obama, glinting with steel, telling Congress of his determination to drive through healthcare reform reminded us that America is a different place now.

“And that there are more ways of protecting its people than by fighting pointless wars.”

Breaking up terrorist camps, removing a genocidal dictator, replacing tyranny with democracy = pointless?

The modern-Left are racist and selfish (and write for right-wing papers!)

  2. Jayne says:

    ‘Glinting with steel’ Lol

  3. Benjamin G says:

Good point Chas. I can understand why a white supremacist would say those wars were pointless but not anyone else.

  4. Monkeytrousers says:

She has appeared on Press TV. That says it all…

I was about to ask if you were sure about that. I even wrote to her to double-check, as I found it hard to believe. But there she is in her column boasting about “the pleasure” of supporting a regime that hangs people for being gay, murders peaceful pro-democracy protestors and denies the Holocaust while preparing the next one. Jeez, I loved her writing when I was a kid.

  6. Monkeytrousers says:

Agreed, Chas. I sometimes glance at her column in the MoS when I want to know what it feels like to be stupid;) and nearly choked when I read her prattling drivel about her appearance on Piss TV and oh, isn’t the hijab just WONDERFUL because it protects you from all these decadent Western leering chaps, blah, blah. A few weeks later the Basiji were gang-raping women (and young men) who’d had the cheek – the cheek, I tell ya! – to protest against MadDinnerJacket’s disgusting regime. How she can look at herself in the mirror (not recommended if you’re Suzanne Moore) after expressing public support for these murderers is beyond my understanding.

  7. Chas Newkey-Burden says:

I agree on the wider issues but can’t agree on the mirror jibe against her. I think she’s very beautiful (and has amazing hair by the way!)

  8. Dan says:

Suzanne Moore is a hypocrite. She resigned from the NS ‘on principle’, but will she resign from the Mail On Sunday ‘on principle’ after Jan Moir’s article? No. Because she has no priniciples. She didn’t even have a job at the NS to resign from. And she is happy to take money from the Iranian government, too. The same government that executes people for being gay.
