As we have seen in recent times, Human Rights Watch (HRW) is an organisation that cares little for human rights but loves to demonise Israel.

Even Robert L Bernstein, the man who founded HRW and was its chairman for two decades, has now lost patience with the organisation:

“Israel, with a population of 7.4 million, is home to at least 80 human rights organizations, a vibrant free press, a democratically elected government, a judiciary that frequently rules against the government, a politically active academia, multiple political parties and, judging by the amount of news coverage, probably more journalists per capita than any other country in the world – many of whom are there expressly to cover the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Meanwhile, the Arab and Iranian regimes rule over some 350 million people, and most remain brutal, closed and autocratic, permitting little or no internal dissent. The plight of their citizens who would most benefit from the kind of attention a large and well-financed international human rights organization can provide is being ignored as Human Rights Watch’s Middle East division prepares report after report on Israel.”

NGOs like HRW, War on Want, Amnesty etc & ignoramuses such as Galloway, Lauren Booth etc are always harping on about the “siege of Gaza”. Take a look at this http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/slideshow/photo/091023/481/db6e94a910124b5f904b58e955f8cbd1/
As Aussie Dave puts it – “the starvation in Gaza is clearly taking its toll” ! http://www.israellycool.com/2009/10/24/photo-of-the-day-11/

That is so true,la cumparsita. Why,I’ve heard stories about people in North Korea being undernourished, but then I saw a picture of Kim Jong Il’s nephew, and he was as plump as a pig,so I knew right away that it was all made up.thank you for your informative, and highly relevent link.Regards,Shatner’s Bassoon.

In case you don’t realise it, “Shatner’s Bassoon” is a Jew-baiting troll on Harry’s Place, inter alia. His handle-name refers to a made-up body part referred to in Chris Morris’s Brass Eye satire on drugs. It stopped being cool to quote Brass Eye about ten years ago. That he still does I leave to your judgement ;-)

It stopped being cool to moan about how it stopped being cool to do this that or the other way back in history,my slanderous friend. The ‘coolest’ thing about that Brass Eye episode was how it showed up the witless credulity of those who allow themselves to be drafted into media campaigns.I thought that chimed quite well with Harry’s Place.Incidently, those tunnels whose sole purpose,we were told, was to bring in Qassam rockets, are in fact being used to bring food into the Gaza strip, yes? That seems an awfully elaborate way to meet the nutritional needs of the population doesn’t it?

NM – ta for explanation. And there I was thinking it was all something to do with “Star Trek”! Beam me up Scottie!
