The ridiculous play My Name Is Rachel Corrie continues to tour the UK and the world. Now Corrie’s parents are to sue the Israeli Defence Ministry. The case is due to start on March 10 in Haifa.
Enough already. It’s time for this grotesque, hagiographical roadshow of distortion and omission to stop. As Tom Gross wrote, what about the forgotten Rachels?

Exactly Chas. You seen the photograph of Rachel Corrie burning an American flag at a Hamas rally? Or photograph of her parents shaking hands with Yasser Arafat?
Will be interested to see how the US media covers this ridiculous lawsuit.

That is harsh, Youval. It is tragic that Rachel Corrie died.
I only hope that one day her family will look to themselves and ask why they let their naive daughter travel to such a dangerous area with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) which has a dark track record of supporting terrorism and putting impressionable youngsters in the line of fire.
That is why she died. It should be the ISM in court. Blaming the Israeli government is ludicrous, but perhaps predictable from Corrie’s parents who as Shmuel explained were cosy with Yasser Arafat and shook his blood-stained hands.
Yasser Arafat’s hands were no more bloodstained than the hands of Netanyahu,Sharon or Zippy Livni.

Rachel Corrie was one of many young idealistic people wishing to make a difference to the world .Unfortunately she became involved with the ISM,a supposedly apolitical humanitarian NGO. This could not be further from the truth. The ISM is dedicated to the demise of Israel and to that end acts a non military aide to the various Palestinian terror groups. The close association was borne out during the height of the Intifada. Following a homicide bombing ,and in accordance with Israeli policy of demolishing the homes of the bombers,ISM activists were already in position around the house before Israeli forces arrived. The ISM could only be aware if they were in close contact with the terrorist group responsible. The ISM also provide safe houses for these criminals.
The Rachel Corries of the world are unwitting dupes of a heinous cynical organisation that is utterly contemptuous for the safety and well being of these young people . It is a win win situation. If they obstruct the Israeli security forces or if they are killed and become excellent propoganda as in the case of Corrie.
A few years ago ,I attended an ISM film screening in Leicester Square with a Q and A afterwards. I asked whether the ISM as an apolitical NGO were considering placing their operatives in Israeli restaurants ,buses etc in order to afford some protection to Israeli civilians. You can imagine the answer! Several attempted questions later and I was escorted from the cinema by two of their goons.

Arafat was the godfather of modern terrorism. Firstly, he tried to overthrow King Hussein of Jordan and when he was repulsed and he and his followers were ejected from Jordan and as many as 25,000 Palestinians were killed by the Jordanians (Black September), he was invited into Lebanon. There he was jointly responsible for the Lebanese Civil War, during which 100,000 Lebanese Christians died – as a result the Christian Falange forces visited the Sabra & Chatila refugee camps and carried out a massacre against the Palestinians there.
Arafat was finally thrown out of Lebanon and he travelled to Tunisia from where he created his empire based on funds for ‘the Palestinians’, which were used for his own enrichment.
Following Camp David, Arafat travelled back to the West Bank and settled into his Muqata bunker in Ramallah.
From there he initiated and presided over the first and then the second intifadas, a time of extreme bloodshed and carnage right across Israel and throughout Gaza and the West Bank.
The man was a monster, a corrupt, bloodthirsty, pig who was only good at ordering the deaths of others – he was highly successful at that.
His hands were stained with the blood of hundreds of thousands of his own people, Israelis, Jordanians and Lebanese.
If you are not aware of that, you need to read more, but until you do, why write about something you are clearly ignorant about?
Well said cityca. I suspect blah is unaware of most of that judging by most of his/her naive fifth form scribblings here. And as a sidenote, is blah aware that Netanyahu has never presided over a war? Actually, Netanyahu was something of a peacemaker in his first term as PM. But don’t let that trouble you blah, you just keep making a fool of yourself.
I forget sometimes that people genuinely try and make an equivalence between a genocidal terrorist and the moral army of a peace-loving democratic state.

That the Falangists were given extensive support by Israel,when they went into those camps and started with the wholesale killing.And that Israel played a prominent role in the civil war,supporting the fascist SLA for instance.

I’m somewhat impressed that you acknowledge that it was the Christian Falangists that carried out the Sabra and Shatilla massacres . In the hate fest of anti Israel bile over the years ,the Falangists tend to get airbrushed out of the picture with many neutrals believing it was Israel who was responsible .
The IDF did not enter the camps .The idea was for the Christian militia to smoke out the militants holed up in the camps . There was no way that Israel could know that the Falangists would use it to settle old scores and turn it into a massacre.
Likewise,how could Britain possibly know that the UDA would murder Pat Finucane in front of his family? They said the only reason they wanted to know when and where they could find him was to return the lawnmower they borrowed.
