Interesting to hear Nick Clegg talk about “antisemite nutters” in Europe during the leaders debate this evening. There’s a few of those in your own party, Mr Clegg. Including one you repeatedly broke your promise to properly deal with.

Good to see a much feistier performance from Cameron who ‘won’ on the Sun/YouGov poll. People are beginning to see through Clegg it seems.

Well said Chas! He’s a patronising little man.

  3. Duvid Crockett, King of DeLancey Street says:

Yes Chas. Duvidl noticed that too. Cue an anti-semitism-related Duvidl anthem to Lib Dem slime:

Poison Tongue (to the tune of “Robin Hood, Riding through the Glen”)
(Hat tip: Carl Sigman from “The Adventures of Robin Hood” TV series 1955-60)

Jenny Tongue, Poison Tongue, shvitzing in the Lords,
Lib-dem joke, Tongue will croak slime, bile and eat its words.
Feared by Nick Clegg; a Tongue-lash he’ll beg
From Poison Tongue; up his bum; yum-yum-yum.

Poison Tongue licks the crumb from the terrorists’ table.
Scalds the lips of Lib-dem schnips.
    She’s no Betty Grable.
Loves Jeremy Thorpe; at them we’ll gawp.
Poison Tongue; takes a bung; upstairs slung.

I will always remember the time he spoke at the Jewish News event last year. He was ridiculous throughout.

He repeatedly criticised Israeli policy, including Operation Cast Lead and other defensive wars. When an audience member asked him what alternative ideas he had, he said: “It’s not up to me to dispense lofty advice to Israel”. Ridiculous, as this was exactly what he had been doing all night.

He then confidently said that “all sides” of the conflict want a peaceful, two-state solution. He was then reminded that Hamas quite openly do not want this, but actually want the elimination of Israel in its entirety. He blushed, and carried on.

He promised pompously that he would deal with Jenny Tonge if she repeated her antisemitism, but as we have seen he repeatedly broke that promise. If he’s not even strong enough to deal with problems in his own party then what could we expect from him in government?

Oh, he also trotted out his favourite “I’m married to a Spaniard so how can there be antisemites in my party” line. Nobody had a clue what he meant.

Joe Grimmond was the last decent Liberal, a true friend. Clegg is ignorant ( and I mean that in the kindest way ) to the Middle East, Trident etc, etc. No vote him in Leeds N.E. this time.

  6. Penny says:

Yes – the quick insertion of ‘anti-semite’ into that section of Nick’s comment seemed somewhat shoe-horned in. An opportunistic moment came along and he appeared to be trying to imply that Cameron was hob-nobbing with anti-semites whilst assuring the audience of his own anti-semitic credentials. Wholly calculated and insincere in my view.

Clegg does give the impression that he has no real understanding of the Middle East, and that is worrying. Maybe he’s one of those who over-intellectulise and, as I’ve said before, dismiss the notion that western values do not necessarily apply across the globe. It seems to me that Obama is doing the same thing and, so it would seem, is merely getting the nose-to-thumb response from Iran rather than the co-operation he clearly banked on.

it was extremely hypocritical, but also correct.

I’m completely disgusted by the Lib Dems’ rise in popularity. People need to know that this is a party which has one priority; winning votes.
