“I want to make something very clear today. Will I ever join a Conservative government? No. I will never allow the Liberal Democrats to be a mere annex to another party’s agenda.”
Nick Clegg, in March 2008
Both sides have said things they now regret. Hopefully they are both working for the common good these days. I’ve certainly heard words of contrition that bode well for the future.
I don’t know why you have to be so patronising. In any case, nobody has said they expect consistency from a politician. I’m merely highlighting an inconsistency.
I think ‘better for israel than the other options’ is a better description.
Hague and Cameron did say those things, yes, but in general they do not characterise their overall stated views or actions. Of course we must keep our eyes open to these facts, though.
Also worth remembering that the British, although naturally pro-Arab and anti-Semitic in some quarters, also have an additional reason to sook up to the Arabs: the fact that UK troops are deployed in Muslim lands. Once the troops are out (happening soon) the gloves can come off a bit more.
Those statistics are revealing, albeit not a huge shock. The Liberal Democrat party has long been dominated by creepy (and often pervy) men doing dodgy favours for one another, keeping women and other types of people out of the picture. So much for change and a new politics etc. As for the Conservatives, I’m not sure they’ve ever claimed to be anything other than a largely smug and closed shop!

Didn’t some commenters here say a Conservative government would be good for Israel?
The Prime Minister is the man who called east Jerusalem “occupied”.
The Deputy Prime Minister has called for Israel to be disarmed.
The Foreign Secretary is the man who criticised Israel’s defensive war against Hezbollah.
Great.
What touching naivete, to expect consistency from a politician
