Good piece. There has only ever been a fourth generation of refugees once in history – the Palestinians. If you become a refugee in Britain you have the same rights as everyone else. Why is this not the case for the Palestinians in Arab countries? Because the dictators and despots in those countries can use them as a sledgehammer to bash Israel with, deflecting criticism from their domestic policies.
The way I look at it, you either treat Israel the same as you treat Lebanon (in this case) and China (in the case of Tibet). If you don’t, it’s down to two reasons, both of them unpleasant; you hold Israel to higher standards than you do these countries, which I see as racist, or you just hate Israel, which makes you an anti-semite.

All the international actions against Israel, the most recent of them being the rush to flotilla, can be characterised as a gang bang. These people are not hypocrites, they are assassins.
I hope the Israeli military either torpedo the lot of them, or block off the ships, PR be damned.
The enemy are winning the media war 100%. I have just witnessed on the T.V. local news (Yorkshire T.V.) the most one sided bit of reporting about some sadly misguided individual who claims to have been on one of these flotilla’s and procceeded to demonise Israel and all it stands for. The T.V.station obviously believing everything claimed without any coberation.
She was on again last night (tuesday ) spouted 30 seconds of venom about Israel, and then on to a local story about a 3 legged dog somewhere in Bradford.
There is a constant drip drip hatred of Israel, and consequently the Jews which is having a detreMENTAL influence on the general publics attitute. Surely the T.V. channel has a resposiblity to check facts and give a balanced view.

Agree completely. Firstly, that individual was probably not on the boat – almost everyone one of these ‘protestors’ has been given information about the flotilla and told to go around the country claiming they were on it and demonize Israel. We should think about starting a legal campaign to have them admit they are making it up.
Secondly, the response to losing the media war is to ignore it. People have already decided that killing 9 ‘people’ on a flotilla, when all the evidence indicates that they were armed with automatic weapons and attempting to launch a military attack on the Israeli coast, is fine as long as that country is Israel. We need to stop apologizing every time the IDF kills someone. We need to make the message clear: when it comes to defense of Israel, there are no laws, we can do whatever we want. If you don’t like it, tough; tell the Palestinians to stop making us kill them.
Maybe this story will show that the western, “free”, media isn’t free and shouldn’t be a stand alone option for aquiring facts.
Excellent article by Danny Ayalon, but he forgot to mention one crucial requirement for Hamas to agree to: allow the Red Cross access to Gilad Shalit, at a minimum.
