‘War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.’
John Stuart Mill

Hate to do this but had to share – just found last week’s “Guardian 2″ lying around the house (we buy it once a week just to torture ourselves). On the front page: “Why it’s time to scrap Britain’s armed forces”. They really are foul.

    R.I.P all our fallen soldiers.

As a former soldier, I have held this view for a long time. It is so eloquently written.

For some reason, in much of the western world the word ‘war’ has been made synonymous with ‘utmost evil’. I have witnessed the devastation of war and it can be horrifying. But not standing up to a threat seeking to destroy your values and freedom will be even more horrifying.

Israel is, and has always been fighting battles long before they come to us. Whatever comes to them, is just waiting round the corner ready to start with us. Israel gives us protection and they deserve our support.

    RIP our fallen soldiers.

    RIP
