Eleven years ago today,19 Muslims hijacked planes in America, but 1.2 billion Muslims did not.
Some 38 years ago today, the Chabad Rebbe made a statement that was true then, was true on September 11, 2001, and is true today.
He said: ‘Particularly in these times, there is a great need to illuminate the darkness in our world. We see wild events and wild behaviors taking place in the world around us, events that have never before transpired, and which stem from utter darkness.
‘It’s because of this that wherever a person may end up, he or she has to light a lamp, a spiritual lamp, or at least a candle, or even a little flame, to illuminate that darkness.’
Thoughts are with all people who were killed, injured or bereaved by, or as a result of, the 9/11 attacks.
i agree chas thoughts with all the victims and someone like 7/7 victim Martine Wright showed us in the paralympics how shes illiminated the darkness.
May we be granted the light to tell the next 19 and the next 19 from those who are innocent.

Very Noble sentiments Chas and of course I respect you a lot. Whilst it is true 1.2 billion Muslims were not involved in 9/11 that does not mean Islam was not to blame. Repeatedly it has been demonstrated that huge swathes of Islamic opinion was either in favour of the attack and conversely in denial about who the perpetrators were, with many blaming Israel. I like what you have written here, but I will always say that in part due to 9/11 (and other daily atrocities) since that my opinion of Islam has been deeply negative. I do delineate that of course from ordinary Muslims.
There are 1.3 billion Muslims and only 10% of them would have the Jews driven out of Israel. I’d say 130 million enemies are an awful lot with which to contend for the 6 million Israelis.
That’s the stat that is conspicuous by its absence from Chas’s post. Only 19 hijackers, but how many helped, how many applauded, and how many handed out sweets?

Yes F Callen. 19 hijackers, dozens more accomplices, hundreds of imams and scholars, the entire Saudi religious establishment, tens of millions who share Islamism’s fundamental goals and many more imbued with the virulent forms of anti semitism and bigotry.
